Unbroken 06:43
We must believe in something Enough to make it real Masking all indifference Embracing your fears One day you realize This cannot be ignored Time to make hard decisions Can't play it like a game Perfect disaster, unbroken dream You think the light Shows you the path Cower in your corner Remain unseen Time is not the weapon Fear grows on its own Break falls with your noose As we all accept the truth Coming 'round to full circle Not knowing what you'd find Try not to run away As it all unwinds Step forth, face the music Your time has finally come Don't waste your chances Don't let it drive you down Life's full of empty people Play along and you'll see why They take you in, use you up Then you're alone My faith is in tomorrow It comes in spite of all They'll say you must follow You must play along

Riding high on your latest victory Waiting for the sideshow to return To the place it matters least Pulls you in for its guilty feast So many punished who never knew It was all the same to you They don't remember and never will Blissful ignorance lasting still You remember, you alone And this is how they came to know All is done, all because of you All is done, got to see it through Standing on the edge above With the one you're thinking of Reliving all the things you had How can you stand another day Of pushing keys and counting change No, you'll never make the grade All your life, have you forgotten them Helped you up when you fell down But these lies, poisoned memories It was always easy Using what you need close at hand Play the part of friend in need Maybe that will quell your greed What lives on is not their face How they're used takes up that space Giving back was not your way Now they haunt you every day Yearning, turning dead/alive Memories they churn inside Thoughts of friends and family Will this be all that's left of me? It's too late to thank them now A warning shot across the bow When you think that this is through Understand they live in you Take the blame, all on you. I remember walks along the road All the stories of our future untold Little time together, no fault of our own Never had time to say goodbye I guess that's just the way it goes There's a light up on the hill Not far away, the trees start to listen I used to think the memories lived here Locked away until I returned But they don't dwell in this place They are my shadow staying out of sight No more walks along the road You haven't changed despite all this The comfort of your ignorant bliss The secret no one cares to learn Breaks your reverie in the end What lives on is not their face How they're used takes up that space Giving back was not your way Now they haunt you every day

Relevance 10:10
It's a simple observation Even the cynical soul can't ignore A young boy's dreams shattered by truth and cast aside {Seemingly shaken by this he falls in line, keeping his anger inside Hopes for the day when the shackles will fall Knowing full well he may not recall The feelings he had from the start It's a hell of a way to lose your heart} It seems on most days I try to remain Distant yet relevant The hardest part is making them think That what they say matters at all Pretend my way through all of my days It's just enough to keep them at bay I no longer make that kind of wake An outsider's choice Here we don't speak of the future, now is enough for us all Here is your link to the people if you can take their noise I cannot give you solace, forsaking all that is true You must appease the ones making decisions for you All this time you've wandered Punishments you've endured When will the laughing end? How can you settle the score? Is it vengeance you need? Is that your victory? I can remember each of you, this won't fade away I'm sure you've forgotten, wish I could say the same The poison you gave me, it lingers - and I've passed it along I don't think I should let go, none of this feels wrong

Every day he wants a change But it stays the same Rebuking words profane So it's all in vain Keep fighting city hall Waiting for the next fall Without any doubt Any chance to throw him out And find a new pawn To shovel shit from the lawn That's what they like best It pays for trinkets in her chest Another day gone Where you don’t belong Repeating tired verses Of the same old song Three years gone Still declining You knew all along Your dream was dying In battle he's just born to lose With a prize of sudden death In his head he hears the Muse Cursing under his breath For taking away The right to succeed They never care How much his pockets bleed Like a hole in the dam Stuffed up with tape Just another lamb Who must learn to scrape Just can't get over this Always a pessimist Just a rusty shell of emptiness She wants a house – a picket fence A sense of comfort and confidence But it’s feared that’s eluded them here Slogging through another day Praying just to get away Anger seeping out his pores Yet he still returns for more He knows why he soldiers on Half his mind already gone Staring at those empty shelves "You know these bills don’t pay themselves" But through the fog he sees a light Illuminates his will to fight It’s only at the apogee He musters an apology: “It's time I started pulling weight And letting go of all this hate Sorry that it took so long I'll try to right all that’s wrong” Don’t let them kill your dreams Be careful what you give The grass is not as green But you’ve got to learn to live Don’t let them squash your pride While learningto forgive Your soul is open wide And leaking like a sieve You’re halfway there and still nowhere You’ve been cheated and deceived What will they say when you’ve gone away? Will you have something to leave? What's left of you and all you do? They hope you’ll never find your peace You're never safe once in your grave We're only here on lease

Reprieve 09:53
Crawl to your destination Though it might lead to ruin It seems like true salvation Reprieve from your transgressions What if it all falls through? What will you have them do? Is reward worth the risk? They all depend on you It's selfless desperation Drives you to be clear Patterns of confrontation Manifesting in your fears It's no comfort see this While dreams are in chains There's no reason behind it And no one to blame Taking the road as it comes Has a way of breaking you down You piece together ways To hold the emptiness at bay

about

At long last, we bear witness to the release of Disconnect's new album "Planned Obsolescence." Released (unintentionally) almost exactly 2 years to the day after our last album - long overdue, yet appropriately aged.

The reasons for the long delay between albums are many...and now irrelevant.

It's fitting that this (to our ears, at least) is our most ambitious release to date. Certainly more unorthodox than past albums, but hopefully still catchy enough so our detractors won't soon forget our love of contemporary prog bands such as Porcupine Tree, Rush, and King Crimson.

Thanks for giving us a listen - we hope you like it.
